How big an image fits in 50 KB
As a rough guide, a typical photo saved as JPG reaches 50 KB at around 700 to 1,000 pixels on its longest side. Plain backgrounds allow larger sizes; detailed scenes like foliage or crowds need smaller ones. PixMino measures the real file, so you don't have to guess.
Common uses
- Profile photos on forums, intranets and directories.
- Images inside email signatures, where every kilobyte travels with each message.
- Photo fields in online forms that cap uploads at 50 KB.
- Thumbnails and small previews on web pages.
Choosing a format
JPG is the safe choice for forms. For your own website, WebP or AVIF will usually keep more detail at the same 50 KB. If you have a logo or graphic with transparency, try WebP before PNG.
Supported formats
PixMino opens five formats and saves four. HEIC photos from iPhones are saved as JPG or PNG.

AVIF and HEIC use codecs downloaded the first time you need them; after that they work offline. Animated images are converted as a single frame.
Questions
Will the file be exactly 50 KB?
It will be 50 KB or less, usually just under, at the highest quality that fits.
My image is already under 50 KB. What happens?
PixMino still optimizes it. If the result would be larger than your original, it tells you, so you can keep the original.
Can I compress many images to 50 KB?
Yes. Switch to Batch, set 50 KB and keep automatic dimension reduction on for images that can't reach it at full size.
